Vitalik Buterin boycotts one of the biggest crypto summits

One of the biggest names in cryptocurrencies is boycotting one of the most high-profile conferences in the cryptocurrency space.

Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin said this year’s Consensus conference was a scam in one of the contents of CoinDesk, which organizes the event. He shared a tweet explaining that he boycotted the site on the grounds that he was redirected.

Buterin, who has approximately 750 thousand followers on Twitter, encourages other people to stay away from the event.

Buterin has previously complained that certain publications in the media about cryptocurrencies are legitimizing scams. According to a report released last month by New York-based Satis Group, 81 percent of ICOs are scams.

Buterin also said that a comment the news site posted about a proposed update to Ethereum’s code was sensational and appalling.

Buterin additionally disagreed with CoinDesk’s policy on reader comments and argued that the $2,000-$3,000 ticket price was excessive. He estimates that more than 4,000 people will listen to more than 250 speakers at the summit in York.
