The survey measuring Bitcoin knowledge conducted in Russia shows that more than half of the respondents are aware of Bitcoin. However, Russians are mostly reluctant to buy cryptocurrencies. stated that they only heard the word from one place.

Awareness about Bitcoin was surprisingly stronger among younger respondents. 75% of people aged 18-24 gave a positive response.

Interestingly, only 9% of Russians who know about Bitcoin say they will be able to acquire cryptocurrencies in the future.. However, 67% are reluctant to buy because they think it is unprofitable.

The survey highlights low awareness as the reason why Russians are reluctant to invest in cryptocurrencies.

The Russian Public Opinion Research Center conducted the survey. (VCIOM) executive says:

“Professional investors have these rules; If something is discussed on TV shows for housewives, it will soon collapse. Bitcoin is fast approaching this status. I would like to take the opportunity to warn my citizens about the cryptocurrency game. The main problem is that there is no so-called ‘final claim’.. In official money you can at least pay taxes to the government it gives. Required to accept own currency. No one is obligated to accept payment in cryptocurrencies.”

However, the survey itself seems to contradict the notion that Russians are reticent to buy Bitcoin because of the pessimism surrounding their future.

27% of all respondents think that access to Bitcoin is limited to certain people, while 34% do not think anyone can buy it. 16% say purchases of Bitcoin are banned in Russia.

Aside from Russia’s attempts to tax and regulate the cryptocurrency market, no steps have been taken to ban the purchase and possession of Bitcoin in the country.

VCIOM itself admits that the lack of information can partly explain the very different views of the Russian public on the world of cryptocurrencies. However, it cannot be denied that the public has a relatively strong awareness of the existence of Bitcoin.
