Shell enters the process of structuring and savings: It will lay off 9 thousand people
The Netherlands-based multinational oil and gas company Shell is entering the process of structuring and saving. Shell, which was founded in 1907 and still continues to serve, announced its decision to restructure and enter into austerity policy for the transition to low-carbon energy.
$2-2.5 billion savings target
In line with the goals of transitioning to low-carbon energy and aiming to cut costs, Shell will lay off thousands of workers. Declaring that it will save 2 to 2.5 billion dollars by the end of 2022, Shell announced that it will terminate the employment contracts of its 7 thousand to 9 thousand personnel.
As of last year, the total number of employees reached 83 thousand, Shell said that 1,500 people who left voluntarily were among these figures.
