SegWit is officially supported with Bitcoin Core 0.16.0 update

Bitcoin Core 0.16.0 client version, which provides full support for SegWit scaling technology, was finally officially released on Monday, February 26.

The Core team announced that they will support SegWit technology with the update they released earlier this month.

< In their Github announcement, the

Core team said:

“This is a major release that includes new features, various bug fixes and performance improvements, as well as updated translations. ”

Bitcoin Core 0.16.0 marked an important milestone in the history of Bitcoin. SegWit, which will reduce transaction fees and transaction times, has been the most requested change by Bitcoin users since its launch in August 2017.

Bitcoin Core has officially started giving full support to SegWit

However, many major companies and wallet providers in the industry have come under pressure from customers who have been frustrated by high transfer fees and slow transaction times. The technology also forms the basis of the revolutionary upgrades to Bitcoin. Second-tier solutions, such as the Lightning Network, where fees and approval times are reduced to zero are one such upgrade.

With the launch of the Lightning Network, it has made rapid progress with customer adoption since the start of the year, despite only limited support for SegWit.
