SegWit and Bitcoin Cash Support from Blockchain Wallet

The cryptocurrency wallet service Blockchain, formerly known as Blockchain.info, stated in a statement that they will fully support Bitcoin Cash and the SegWit protocol.

Blockchain’s CEO Peter Smith announced the near-future plans of the popular wallet service in a tweet last Wednesday.. Supporting Ethereum as well as Bitcoin, the wallet’s support for Bitcoin Cash is only partial.

In the published blog post, a development such as “The wallets we released in 2018 will also start to support SegWit technology” was also included.

“This move will be a huge and complex update that will change the underlying code of wallets.. The wallets of billions of users on different platforms and devices will be updated, which will affect the privacy of the transfers.”

Blockchain actually delivered to its users about 8 weeks after the hardfork on August 1st. Bitcoin Cash allowed them to check their balances.

It was allowed, but this brought with it many problems.. In fact, the wallet was processing Bitcoin Cash as a result of their partnership with ShapeShift. This solution is not very reliable, because especially with the recent activity, many freezes and errors began to occur in the system.

Bitcoin Cash Transactions Integrated into the Wallet Coming

Users commenting on the statement, Blockchain. criticizes for update priority. Blockchain preferred to work on Bitcoin Cash first, although the SegWit protocol was much more important for Bitcoin transactions.. The blog post covers it like this:

“The demand for Bitcoin Cash has been very strong lately. In our opinion, this situation will remain like this for a long time.”
