SegWit Activates in Bitcoin

The SegWit proposal has reached the required number of votes to be active.

The long-discussed update, SegWit yesterday, reached 479,707. Reaching the required amount of votes by getting support from 100% of mining pools in the block. According to network data, the block has been mined by BitClub.

This change is not yet official as the process of voting is not yet complete .

It will not be available for several weeks after its official adoption..

Users and mining pools can update their software For , the Bitcoin network will enter a 2-week extension period after SegWit is officially adopted. After this stage, possibly on August 21, SegWit will activate and miners will start rejecting blocks that do not support SegWit update.
