Facebook is building a team of company heavyweights for Blockchain
According to the news in Recode, Facebook is forming a team from the company’s heavyweights to explore Blockchain technology.
What is blockchain and how should Facebook use it? Answering these questions is now the responsibility of Facebook executive David Marcus, who until this week heads the company’s standalone messaging app Messenger.
Marcus is leaving Messenger to head a new team dedicated to exploring blockchain technology for Facebook.. Blockchain team will initially consist of a small group. In addition to Marcus, the team also includes several key Instagram executives: James Everingham, Instagram’s VP of Engineering, and Kevin Weil, Instagram’s VP of Product.
Stan Chudnovsky, current Product Manager at Messenger. It will pass.
There are several remarkable points about this move.. First of all, Marcus is also the former chairman of PayPal and therefore an expert in payment technologies.. Also, Facebook’s decision to pursue Blockchain technology will give the crypto industry more legitimacy.. This does not mean that Facebook will create its own cryptocurrency, there are other areas where Blockchain technology will be used, including encrypted data storage.. On the other hand, Marcus has a personal interest in cryptocurrencies.. He joined the board of directors of cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase in December.
