Cryptocurrency Support From Top Russian Official
A senior Russian official has declared his support for the state-backed cryptocurrency.
In an interview with RBC, Russia’s Primary Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov said that if necessary security measures are taken. said he would support a “crypto-ruble”.
According to the translation of his statement, “This theme will develop,” said Shuvalov, “but it should develop in such a way that it does not endanger the national economy.. Rather, it should strengthen.”
Shuvalov is not the first Russian official to announce his support for a currency backed by blockchain technology.. Prior to that, Olga Skorobogatova, vice-president of the Bank of Russia, said it was “a matter of time” to issue a national cryptocurrency.. After lengthy discussions within the central bank, Skorobogatova finally stated that they were “ready” to take up the challenge.
The Russian government has begun testing blockchain technology in many different areas.. One of these areas is the health sector.. “I’m still still discussing this topic. we are discussing but there is no concrete project yet. We need to prepare the necessary laws and regulations to develop such centers.”
