Blockchain World Creates A New Association for Lobbying with US Proxies

With the establishment of the new blockchain association, the Blockchain Association, a number of blockchain investors, exchanges and organizations Washington D.C.. plans to lobby lawmakers.

This new organization will focus on both education and legislative changes as part of its efforts to normalize relations between crypto organizations and lawmakers, according to the Washington Post on Tuesday.. The association’s first staff includes Kristin Smith, a former Senate aide and Overstock.com’s blockchain lobbyist.. Coinbase’s chief legal officer and Mike Lempres, CRO, told The Washington Post that the association will bring companies together to advocate for reasonable legislation: let them know that they will be in contact with companies that will accept legal regulations when seen. … We are not companies that want to play games with the system, we are trying to develop a legal and regulatory system that will stand the test of time.. ”

The Blockchain Association will specifically focus on tax law and the relationship of “know your customer” and anti-money laundering rules with crypto exchanges and organizations, “at least for a start,” according to the report.
