Legal action was taken against 2 people.
Istanbul Customs Department teams carried out two ‘Bitcoin’ operations one day apart at Atatürk Airport. The first operation was carried out against Batuhan A., who came to Istanbul from New York, USA on December 18, 2017. The suitcases brought by Batuhan A., who wanted to cross the green line and enter Turkey by saying “I don’t have any goods subject to customs,” were sent to the X-Ray device. 12 video cards, 1 power supply, 1 camera, 27 video card slots, 1 sensor and 1 signal detection device used in Bitcoin production were found in the suitcase. The materials, whose customs value was determined to be 6 thousand 892 liras, were confiscated.
According to the news of Nihat Uludağ from Newspaper Habertürk, the second operation was carried out against Rojin İ., who came from Abu Dhabi on 19 December 2017. 5 video cards and 5 power supplies were found in the suitcase of Rojin İ., who was stopped while he was going to enter through the green line. It was determined that the pieces in Rojin İ.’s suitcase were worth 76 thousand 500 liras. 3/1 of the Anti-Smuggling Law No. 5607, with the order of the prosecutor’s office, about the 2 suspects taken into custody. Legal action was taken on the charge of ‘entering the goods into the country without subjecting them to customs procedures’. It was learned that the Ministry of Customs and Trade also requested information from the police regarding the operation.
