The petition submitted via Changre.org requested that users of the e-commerce giant be allowed to shop on the site using cryptocurrencies.

Will Amazon listen?

The rationale behind the petition is not just to give customers more choice in terms of payment method. Amazon’s acceptance of Bitcoin or Litecoin will also encourage innovation and modernization. It will set an important example for other large organizations as well.

In the campaign, it was first aimed to reach 1500 signatures, but the number of signatures was approximately 2500.

Different opinions are expressed on this issue on social media.. This request is unlikely to be honored as Amazon has previously hesitated to support cryptocurrencies.

Retailers that accept Bitcoin

Amazon has yet to introduce Bitcoin as a payment method. Although it does not accept it, many organizations in Japan, including airlines and hotels, provide this facility.

On the other hand, the Japanese government adopted Bitcoin as a legal currency in early 2016.. While Bitcoin is slowly being accepted by many institutions and even many countries, it is only a matter of time before giant e-commerce companies start to accept it.

Finally, it is more likely that Alibaba, rather than Amazon, first started accepting Bitcoin. There are many possibilities.
