On August 6, Charles Hoskinson, founder of IOHK and founder of Cardano, posted a live video update on Twitter after previously leaving the social media platform in a small discussion.. In his update, Hoskinson spoke to the community about the upcoming 1.3, 1.4, and Shelley updates.

Cardano 1.3

Hoskinson started by talking about the changes made to Cardano 1.3 and Daedalus, and that the bill for the 1.3 update is coming soon.

Memory usage has decreased from about 1.5GB – 2.0GB to about 150MB – 200MB here, which means a 90% reduction in memory usage.

On the other hand, a significant code tweak was also made that resulted in an improvement of about 300% over the time taken by the block to download the network, Hoskinson said:

“… Most likely network issues the majority of people should be quite happy with the improvements made. And as I mentioned, there’s a lot of memory improvements, lots of efficiency gains… The code quality is very good for 1.3, so we’re pretty excited about it. ”

Hoskinson extends development date for Cardano’s 1.4 update September 4. The team will then begin the QA process for the update.

Also, 1.4 will be the biggest update for Cardano. He said that the features below the update will be extremely valuable and added that it will probably be finished by the end of the month.

The team has started adding features to the Shelley update. The leader stated that there are 21 business units currently working on Shelley.. Hoskinson described this business as parallel and linear.
