Flash move from Cargill: Withdrawing from the sugar industry
The US-based food company Cargill, whose foundations date back to the 1800s, has announced that it will withdraw from the global sugar trade. Cargill, which continues its activities in 63 countries, including Turkey, aims to focus on food processing and meat business. The company, one of the world’s largest sugar trading names, continues its negotiations to transfer its 50 percent stake in Alvean to Copersucar.

Continuing its activities all over the world with a staff of more than 130,000 in total, Cargill stated that negotiations between the two companies continue to focus on food processing and meat business. “Both shareholders are discussing an agreement in which Copersucar will become the sole owner of Cargill’s Alvean shares,” the statement said.
